Nänikon, July 2022 – With its new EasyPlus UV/VIS instrument line METTLER TOLEDO sets a new standard of versatility and ease of use in water analysis. Spectrum scans, watercolor, and substances in water can be measured using only one compact instrument.
How to make water analysis easier and more efficient? That was the credo of the METTLER TOLEDO development team when designing the new EasyPlus UV/VIS instrument line. "Our customers performing water analyses are application focused”, explains Dr. Zhuoxiang Zhang, Product Manager of the new EasyPlus UV/VIS line. “They need to concentrate on a series of routine analyses that they have to perform daily. Therefore, our goal was to bundle as many applications as possible into one compact instrument." The result keeps what it promised. The new Easy UV and Easy VIS instruments both offer 3-in-1 functionality and are designed to facilitate routine spectroscopic workflows. The instruments are simple and easy to use and assure accurate, repeatable measurements. Built-in methods eliminate calculation and transcription errors and increase data quality.
Simply Scan & Measure
Numerous kits for water analysis are available on the market. They support a wide range of substances contained in water to be analyzed easily, quickly, and cost-efficient. The new Easy UV and Easy VIS instruments support a range of over 150 pre-installed Spectroquant® water test methods with integrated workflow guidance. The procedure is very simple: the corresponding method is automatically selected by scanning the 2D barcode supplied together with the test kit. The measurement is automatically started after closing the lid and the result reading is displayed in a few seconds
Field Approved Application Versatility
“The pilot instruments were tested thoroughly in the field”, states Dr. Zhang further. “Among others, at a drinking water treatment plant in Mexico, where the water quality and the chlorine content are checked during and after purification. They were analyzing parameters such as chlorine, Pt/Co color, water hardness, iron, aluminum, and ozone with 3 different measuring instruments: a colorimeter, a spectrophotometer, and glass burettes for complexometric titration. The customer was more than surprised that he could perform all these analyses with one compact Easy UV instrument. It saves him time, space, and training effort in the same way. Plus, all results are stored in one single database that can be accessed at any time.”
EasyPlus Increases Productivity and Compliance
However, it is not only the application versatility of the Easy UV and Easy VIS that is convincing. Exchangeable sample holders allow shifting quickly between seven different path lengths to suit a wide concentration range. Methods that are compliant with standards such as ASTM, DIN, ISO, and EPA eliminate the need for post-measurement calculation. Data acquisition, storage, and display can efficiently be performed by the optional EasyDirect™ UV/VIS PC software. Additional functions such as closing the SmartLid™ to automatically start the measurement, increase productivity, and avoid time-consuming task repetition.
