The decomposition of this substance, which takes place in several steps can be measured with TGA. The derivative curve is helpful in making the steps more evident.
Weight loss is shown on the TGA curve with horizontal tangents. The limits used for the determination are set by making use of the DTG curve.

With TGA, the individual weight losses can be quantified. Additional analytical methods must be used, however, in order to determine the type of reaction or the nature of the evolved substances.
