Thermogravimetric analysis is a technique that measures the change of mass of a sample as a function of temperature or of time. Detailed analysis of the weight loss steps requires the evaluation methods included in the “TGA Evaluations“ option. The evaluation possibilities include normalization to sample weight, percentage content, stoichiometric content, empirical content and conversion.

Features and Benefits

  • Normalized TGA/DSC curves – gives correct enthalpy values for effects following weight losses
  • Quantitative determination of content – yields useful information about a mixture if it exhibits a single isolated weight loss
  • Broad application area – includes the loss of water from hydrates, hydroxides and carbohydrates, the decomposition of organic or inorganic compounds (pyrolysis) or the oxidative decomposition (combustion) of organic materials
  • Generation of conversion curves – is indispensable for determination of stability and kinetic analyses
