FAQs

What is a single-use pH sensor?

Single-use pH sensors are sensors for pH measurement that are designed to be integrated into single-use process devices by the device manufacturer.Single-use pH sensors from METTLER TOLEDO measure pH with a potentiometric single-use sensor which has been factory calibrated by METTLER TOLEDO in common buffer solutions (zero point and slope). These disposable pH sensors can be used in a broad range of applications that require single-use bags including cell culture, harvesting, fermentation, media/buffer preparation, virus inactivation and purification steps. With their robust design for enhanced protection, METTLER TOLEDO single-use pH probes ensure a significantly longer shelf life while offering an output signal identical to that of a reusable sensor for highly efficient integration. All wetted polymer materials are made of USP 88 VI certified materials.

What is the shelf life of a single-use pH sensor?

The shelf life of a METTLER TOLEDO single-use pH sensor is up to 30 months. This long shelf life makes inventory management easier for both process device manufacturers and end users.

Can I replace a single-use pH sensor?

Single-use pH sensors are directly integrated into the single-use process device by the device supplier and cannot be taken out and replaced. The complete SUB assembly with the single-use pH sensor is gamma irradiated and is shipped pre-sterilized to the biopharmaceutical producer. Consequently, integrated single-use pH sensors will never be removed from the reactor, will never be autoclaved, and will never be calibrated outside the single-use bioreactor with buffer solutions.

What METTLER TOLEDO single-use pH sensors are available?

The InSUS 310 by METTLER TOLEDO is a single-use pH sensor designed for integration into single-use bioprocess devices. This single-use pH probe has been factory calibrated by the sensor manufacturer in common buffer solutions (zero point and slope) to provide the most reliable pH measurements. The shelf life is 30 months dry storage and the disposable pH sensor is made of USP 88 VI certified materials to ensure the highest process safety.

How do I get a METTLER TOLEDO single-use sensor in my bioreactor bags?

METTLER TOLEDO sells single-use sensors directly to bioprocess equipment manufacturers for integration into their single-use devices. These sensors are not directly sold to end users.  If you are interested in single-use pH sensors or single-use dissolved oxygen sensors for your manufacturing operation, contact your bioprocess device manufacturer and ask them for METTLER TOLEDO InSUS single-use sensors.
