For Trouble-free Oxygen Measurement

Success story on a GPro 500 TDL spectrometer replacing a paramagnetic oxygen analyzer.
Success story on a GPro 500 TDL spectrometer replacing a paramagnetic oxygen analyzer.

For decades, paramagnetic analyzers have been widely used in industrial processes for measuring oxygen. However, downsides with the technology such as temperature dependence, interference from other gases and contaminants in the gas sample, and high maintenance demand, have resulted in users looking for better alternatives.

This success story examines how Lenzing Fiber in China, a major producer of manufactured fibers, replaced a paramagnetic analyzer with the GPro™ 500 tunable diode laser (TDL) oxygen sensor.

Lenzing Fiber was using a paramagnetic oxygen analyzer to monitor oxygen levels in their gas pre-treatment system. Despite conditioning equipment to remove contaminants, the analyzer suffered from performance deterioration due to corrosive gases in the sample, leading to damaged components and unreliable measurements. Seeking a more robust solution, engineers chose the GPro 500 TDL corrosive-gas tolerant analyzer. Its non-contact measurement eliminates the risk of damage from process gases.

The GPro 500's unique design ensures high measurement accuracy and it requires minimal maintenance. Occasional cleaning and annual verification is all that is needed, resulting in significant time and cost savings. Additionally, the GPro 500 can be easily adapted to existing sampling systems without disrupting ongoing processes, making it a seamless replacement for a paramagnetic analyzer. Lenzing Fiber has found the GPro 500 corrosive-gas tolerant analyzer to be superior in response speed, maintenance requirements, and reliability, enhancing their gas monitoring operations.
