Why determine the manganese content in ores?

Manganese (Mn) as an alloy is a crucial metal as it contributes greatly in metallurgical and alloy manufacturing industries. Manganese, specifically as manganese dioxide (MnO2), is found in high concentrations in pyrolusite ore, making it a crucial raw material in the metal industry. The quality of pyrolusite ore depends on the concentration of Mn and the impurities present in it. Thus, it's vital to determine the manganese content in ores.

How do you determine the Mn content in pyrolusite ore?

The Mn content in pyrolusite ores can be accurately determined with titration methods, which include complexometric titration in reference to the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) and European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) in two ways that include direct titration using DP5 Phototrode™ and back-titration using DX264-Cu half-cell ISE in combination with the DX200 reference electrode.
