Rotational Programs

As a new graduate, your time in our rotational programs will help you relate your academic education with real world experiences. These programs are highly visible and extremely well-regarded within our company. Past participants represent a significant portion of our company leadership and successful sales specialists.

The Early Career Program (ECP), formerly named Initial Career Experience (ICE), was established in 1990 with Engineering graduates and quickly gained respect throughout the company. In 2007, METTLER TOLEDO founded the Marketing and Finance ECPs to build on the success of Engineering ECP. Our Sales ECP, formerly named Fast Track to Sales (FTTS), began in 2015. Each of these programs offers challenging, value-added rotations that will help provide a smooth transition for recent college graduates beginning their careers.

Engineering ECP

Engineering ECP is a 24-month rotational program designed to introduce recent college graduates to METTLER TOLEDO. Participants have the freedom to work in traditional manufacturing and engineering roles as well as explore interests in other fields including marketing, global service, global logistics, or another area of personal interest.

METTLER TOLEDO hires all types of motivated engineers for the Engineering ECP. Due to the scope of work and positions available, graduates within the following engineering disciplines have found the most success with the company. Click on the links to see an outline of sample rotations:

Rotations are primarily completed at the three facilities located in the Columbus, Ohio area and occasionally members will take a rotation at another METTLER TOLEDO facility nationally or abroad. The Columbus area facilities include:

Masstron Heavy Capacity Manufacturing Plant
Polaris Corporate Office and North American Headquarters

Finance ECP

The METTLER TOLEDO ECP for Accounting and Finance is a global development program that allows recent college graduates to explore and develop in a variety of disciplines in their first 24 months with the company. It is a unique opportunity for accounting, finance and general business majors to gain experience in corporate finance and accounting, treasury, tax, operational finance and accounting through a series of individually tailored job rotations and an international assignment. ECP provides a seamless transition into the company and helps confirm career interests and strengths.

Marketing/Business ECP

Marketing/Business ECP is a 24-month assignment that introduces recent college graduates with majors in Business, Sales or Marketing to METTLER TOLEDO. This structured program gives participants experience in several different business areas such as sales, marketing, US & global service, and customer operations, with exposure to marketing communications, finance, HR, supply chain, data analytics, quality and IT.

Sales ECP

Sales ECP is a 24-month rotational experience designed to prepare an individual for a sales career with METTLER TOLEDO. Individuals rotate through various business areas and functions to gain broad exposure to the sales, product, and marketing sides of the business. Rotations will likely include time with Sales, Product, Technical Support, Telemarketing, Inside Sales, Service Sales and Marketing. Ultimately, our Fast Track to Sales graduates successfully choose Inside Sales or Field Sales positions.

Program participants are based in Columbus, Ohio, the North American headquarters of METTLER TOLEDO, but then must be willing and able to relocate anywhere in the United States to fill an open territory.

Special Group Activities

There is a strong alumni network within these programs. Current participants and alumni do a variety of group activities including quarterly lunches, volunteering, and team building events, strengthening both their professional and personal relationships.

Mentoring
To help provide a smooth transition into METTLER TOLEDO, ECP alumni connect and network with current ECP employees, acting as a line of support throughout their time in the program. Key benefits include:
Acclimating new members into the business world
Providing guidance on selecting future rotations
Helping the new member understand program expectations

ECP Volunteer Activities
The Early Career Program encourages both current and former ECP members to give back to the community through quarterly volunteer activities. These events are coordinated and facilitated by current ECP employees and have most recently included the following:

Volunteering at the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio
Current and former ECP members spent an afternoon assembling furniture at the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio. The Furniture Bank serves a variety of people including single-parent households, those with physical/mental disabilities, those with minimal job skills, and those affected by a significant life challenge such as fire, robbery, immigration, domestic violence, and relocation.

Community Clean-Up at Weinland Park
ECP members collaborated with members of the Weinland Park community to complete an ongoing beautification project in the neighborhood. The work included mulching, weeding, and planting which turned worn down public flower beds into wonderful community spaces.

Outreach at the Ronald McDonald House Charities
Current and former ECP members volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. During that time, the ECP members helped fill welcome packs that are given to families when they arrive at the Ronald McDonald House. The packs contain donated items such as children's books, stuffed animals, crafts, toiletries, and a blanket. The Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from-home for families while their child is in the hospital, and these welcome packs are the first gesture to help familes feel welcome and cared for during their stay.

Biennial Events
Biennial teambuilding events are held to strengthen the ties between current and former ECP members. The activities allow the members to interact both as a team as well as on an individual basis to network and form a common bond between each other. Past events have included a mix of professionally led teambuilding exercises and group activities that are held in a relaxed and fun environment.
