Today's pharma regulatory environment is challenging. Complex quality control in all areas of pharma, including infectious disease therapeutics, means that equipment and software need to meet the highest standards. Fortunately, METTLER TOLEDO's UV7 Excellence Spectrophotometer and LabX™ software can meet these challenges.
A multinational pharma group's Australian branch was manufacturing a medication that reduces infection risk following chemotherapy. The process involved UV Vis spectroscopy and a strictly documented workflow.
New regulatory demands showed the laboratory's QC manager that their current UV Vis spectroscopy equipment needed to meet workflow security, accuracy, and documentation requirements. The workflows had become so complex that they required a software solution and a qualified, validated UV Vis spectrophotometer.
The QC manager turned to METTLER TOLEDO's UV7 Excellence Spectrophotometer, which met all regulatory needs, including the updated United States Pharmacopeia (USP). Combined with LabX software.
The new system enabled the Australian lab to fully meet and exceed all their SOPs for sample preparation and accurate and repeatable absorbance measurements. The combined system supported the lab's staff daily, ensuring they could prepare and measure all samples using fully compliant methods. The staff received prompts directly on the instrument terminal, reducing errors.
LabX software and METTLER TOLEDO's UV7 Excellence Spectrophotometer work together to provide data integrity and excellent performance. The optical performance of the UV7 Excellence model can be checked and calibrated using the CertiRef™ and LinSet™ calibration modules.
This automates the operating process specified in the 42nd edition of the USP. The spectrophotometer's cuvette changer modules enable calibration of 10 optical parameters with certified reference materials. Only one workstation operating LabX software is required to control two UV7 Excellence Spectrophotometers.
Below is an illustration of METTLER TOLEDO's performance verification modules, which can remain mounted on a UV7 Excellence Spectrophotometer during sample measurements.

Today's pharma manufacturing environment requires high levels of regulatory compliance and secure, well-documented workflows. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) must be fully aligned with lab equipment like METTLER TOLEDO's UV7 Excellence Spectrophotometer. Fortunately, labs that perform dilution and absorbance measurements as part of their daily workflows can turn to METTLER TOLEDO's UV7 Excellence Spectrophotometer and LabX software to provide data security and efficient and well-documented workflows. The combined systems meet the most rigorous regulatory standards for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
From simple quality control workflows to enabling staff to meet complex SOPs that satisfy strict pharmaceutical regulations, METTLER TOLEDO's UV7 Excellence Spectrophotometer, along with LabX software, represents a solution that QC managers can be confident will meet and exceed all of their needs.
