In the semiconductor industry, measurements of density and refractive index of various substances ensure that optimal quality and correct concentrations are employed during the different steps of semiconductor manufacturing.
- In chemical analysis, both techniques can be used to determine the concentration of a solute in a liquid solution. The properties of a solution change with the concentration of the solute. By measuring the density and/or the refractive index of a solution, the concentration of the solute can be determined.
- For quality control, density and refractometry are used to ensure the purity of liquids used in semiconductor manufacturing. For example, a change in the property of a cleaning solution may indicate the presence of contaminants.
