The application note describes the potentiometric determination of manganese in NMC cathode material according to the Chinese standard GB / T 1506-2002
Background
Cathode materials used in the lithium ion batteries are ternary compounds comprising the elements nickel, manganese and cobalt (NMC). This cathode material is particularly suitable for electric vehicles due to the combination of high energy density and relatively low price.
The relative composition of such NMC cathode material proves to be relevant for the battery performance, the determination of nickel, manganese and cobalt is important for both quality control and research on cathode material.
