Process analytical technology (PAT) tools, specifically FTIR spectroscopy, are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to provide precise and real-time analytics. This results in maintaining product quality and a better understanding and control of the production process. The use of inline FTIR spectroscopy has proven to be a promising technique as it can monitor multiple process parameters simultaneously, and provides easy spectral analysis and data interpretation.
The Attenuated Total Reflectance—Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) method is a preferred inline monitoring approach due to its ability to provide reliable measurements in liquid environments, even in the presence of water absorption bands. Gerhard Motkya of Octapharma presents inline FTIR spectroscopy as a way to monitor critical process parameters in ultrafiltration/diafiltration (UF/DF) in this webinar.
