In this e-Training course, you will learn how to interpret individual TMA (Thermomechanical Analysis) measurements and get valuable tips on how to obtain additional information using complementary techniques such as DSC, TGA or DMA.

Thermomechanical analysis is used to characterize expansion and contraction behavior and to determine the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE).

Depending on the measurement mode used, TMA allows you to measure thermal expansion and shrinkage behavior, softening, and changes in mechanical properties of materials induced by physical or chemical transitions such as glass transition, crystallization, melting and curing.

These are described using real application examples, in which:

  • TMA parameters were varied
  • Other thermal analysis techniques, including DSC or TGA, were used to obtain more information.
