In order to ramp up production of vaccines rapidly and easily, the World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Gavi Vaccine Innovation Prioritization Strategy, published a guide detailing packaging traceability requirements for therapeutics related to COVID-19.
Production facilities already setup to serialize individual bottles or vials would already be in compliance. Where traceability becomes challenging is facilities that already have extensive processes setup for bottle or vial production who can serialize but not the individual bottles at the capacities or the much higher production volumes required.
