Confiserie Sprüngli is renowned as one of Europe's leading confectioners, producing the finest Swiss chocolate specialities. The company's success is built on a long-standing tradition of top quality and daily freshness. In the company's own chain of 20 sales outlets in and around Zürich, METTLER TOLEDO checkout-scale systems contribute to pleasurable and indulgent shopping experiences.
Confiserie Sprüngli's flagship store at Paradeplatz in Zürich is a meeting place for the city's inhabitants and an unmissable experience for tourists and business travellers. The store sells all the delicacies produced by the confectioner, which to this day is still family-owned, from day-fresh truffles through pralines and tarts up to the company's trademarked 'Luxemburgerli' and savoury delights. No less than 15 checkout-scale systems keep the sales process running smoothly. The product range is divided up into several groups, with a separate counter for each one. This tailors to every shopper's need, from those who want to take their time selecting their favourite pralines to those who just wish to grab a sandwich, muesli or other type of snack from the convenience counter.
Rapid touch-based operation and item-specific sales analysis
Confiserie Sprüngli decided to fundamentally update its existing checkout-scale system. The objective: to work with the same devices across all its sales outlets in order to facilitate easier staff rotation and simplify maintenance processes. In addition, Confiserie Sprüngli hoped to be able to perform more detailed, item-specific sales analysis. As the first stage of its investment plan the company, a METTLER TOLEDO customer since the 1990s, launched an evaluation.
"We wanted to establish whether METTLER TOLEDO's technology was geared up for the future," says Edy Neininger, Head of IT at Confiserie Sprüngli. "At the end of the evaluation phase, we could answer that question with a clear 'Yes'."
