Cloud Point of Non-ionic Surfactants

Tuning CP by Addition of ionic surfactant and electrolyte

Cloud Point is the temperature at which the non ionic surfactant oils out / phases out of the solution or becomes insoluable due to the addition of heat. At this temperature the clear solution turns hazy.

Cloud Point (CP) of non-ionic surfactants is highly influenced by addition of ionic surfactants as well as electrolytes.

In present application, trends in CP value of Tergitol™ NP-10 (Nonylphenol ethoxylate) with addition of ionic surfactant (Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate) or electrolyte (potassium chloride) is evaluated.
