Live Webinar: Characterization of Thermoplastics by Thermal Analysis

Unlock the Secrets of Your Thermoplastics with Essential Thermal Analysis Techniques

Program Overview

  • Typical properties and characteristics of thermoplastics
  • Ideal thermal techniques for studying thermoplastics
  • Practical applications for DSC, Flash DSC, and high pressure DSC
  • Additional applications for TGA, TMA, and DMA
  • Interactive Q&A session

Thermoplastics are widely used in many products due to their unique properties, lightweight nature, affordability, and recycling potential. Their ability to soften when heated makes thermal analysis an invaluable tool for characterizing their behavior. These materials can typically be reheated and remolded multiple times, offering a more sustainable alternative to products that cannot be recycled or repurposed.

Why is Thermal Analysis Essential for Characterizing Thermoplastics?

Techniques such as DSC, TGA, TMA, and DMA can measure thermoplastic properties and behavior across a temperature range of −150 to 1600 °C. Using just a few milligrams of sample, you can determine critical information, including specific heat capacity, glass transition, melting, crystallization, decomposition, oxidative induction time (OIT), expansion coefficient, and elasticity. Understanding these properties is crucial in both research and quality control settings across various industries.
