Due to the growing popularity and usage of lithium-ion batteries, the demand for quality maintenance is high. Several parameters need to be optimized, one among which is HF content.

Why Is It Important To Determine HF Content?

Traces of water in the electrolyte leads to the formation of HF, which is considered as battery poison destroying the electrodes and lowering the capacity. Therefore, HF content in the lithium-ion battery electrolyte should be as low as possible and serves as an important quality indicator.

How Can HF Content Be Determined?

HF content in battery electrolytes is determined by a simple acid-base titration against sodium hydroxide. The electric potential of the solution is monitored using a Potentiometric Compact Titrator and pH glass sensor to identify the endpoint.
